Illness or Accident
Under no circumstances is a student permitted to leave school because of illness unless arrangements for dismissal have been made through the clinic. If a student becomes ill or is injured at school, the nurse/assistant/designee will make every effort to contact the person(s) identified on the student’s Green Card which is sent home at the beginning of each school year. The emergency cards allow the school to know (on transportable, hard-copy) in what order emergency contacts are to be called, specific medical conditions, treatments and medications relative to the student, and the physician(s) and hospital of choice should the situation present itself.

Medication All medications, both prescription and non-prescription, are to be kept in the clinic. The clinic will not supply students with cough drops, throat lozenges or throat sprays. Students with asthma may keep inhalers with them, but a written permission slip by the parents must be on file with the Health Technician.
Medications must be brought from home. All medication administration permits and physician statements must be filed with the school at the beginning of each school year, or, at the start of administration whichever comes first. All prescription medication changes and/or dosage changes must be accompanied by a physician’s statement.
Manufacturer’s recommended dosages will be given in the case of OTC medications unless a physician approves another dose in writing.
All medications, prescriptions, and over-the-counter drugs are to be administered by the healthcare technician or the designee. Medications are to be in the original container, package, or prescription bottle.
